The lock

The tang does the changing.

Every blade in the ten is ground with the same slotted tang. In the template film the tang is lined up with the handle and pushed in by hand until it seats. No second tool in that demo. Pull it, choose another profile, seat that one.

  1. Line the slot up with the mouth of the handle.

  2. Push. The tang slides under the scales.

  3. Stop when it seats. The slot is inside. The edge is yours.

Template, not the whole run

What was in the grass.

These are the working pieces: Colorado Blue, Plain Bone, a bright leaf set, and a damascus fan with a gut hook and a hawkbill. The bench adds the rest of the ten and the other handle styles on that same tang. Profiles marked “catalog” are the run — they are not pretending to be in these frames.
